Our Story

Embark on a journey with us as Cimarron Sunrise Campground and RV Resort, comes into existence. Our desire to provide camping for youth oriented outdoor adventure programs coincided with the disruption of all our lives in 2020. Due to having some unexpected time available, I went out to look and see what might be available around Tulsa. I located a property west of Tulsa but due to possible flooding, limited space for roads and large amounts of cleanup on the shoreline, we deemed it unsuitable. I then did something I would normally never do, I called a realtor in that area and asked them what they might have available. None of what they mentioned was interesting to me and I asked about any land in Pawnee County where I had already looked. They mentioned that a church was selling property in that area and after further review, it was a property right across the highway from where I had just looked. I had no flooding issue but did have NO access and was heavily wooded. I waited for a couple of months without hearing back so I took the step to call the church that owned it, which I located through the county clerk’s office. Since they were still wanting to sell it, I made an offer which was pending when it was listed. From our modest beginnings, we are blossoming into a cherished retreat for RV enthusiasts seeking respite from the urban hustle. Guided by a steadfast commitment to excellence and a reverence for modern conveniences amidst picturesque environs, we endeavor to ensure each guest feels embraced by our home-away-from-home ambiance.

We bought the land and started working on making the camp possible. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation representative that did the site visit for access asked “what are you planning to put on the property”, to which I replied “a camp and we will probably put an RV on it.” When I received the paperwork for the property from ODOT, I had a 24’ wide driveway with 15’ returns on each side! I then noticed that the use line contained “RV Campground” which helped to bring the RV Park into reality. From building the access, to clearing the land, to building the roads and to designing the Gathering Hall, and adding the cabins the RV Resort is now the final goal. As with any new enterprise, there have been many obstacles but the goal of providing an outdoor adventure while close to the city will always remain the same.

We want Cimarron Sunrise to be a haven from which your every destination can be reached while enjoying comfort and warmth. As our tale continues to unfold with a deep-rooted passion for hospitality mixed with an appreciation for Oklahoma's natural wonders, you are always welcome. Inspired by the tranquil location and gracious hospitality of our state, we embarked on a mission to craft a serene sanctuary for travelers, from near or far. With our modest beginnings, we are blossoming into a cherished retreat from the “usual”.
